Do I need to download an app?
No. ValidFan works entirely through your native Messages app on iPhone and Android. Nothing to install, no account to create. Just text your team name to get started.
Which teams and sports does ValidFan cover?
Every NFL team, every FBS program (SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, and all Group of Five conferences), and every FCS program (Patriot, Ivy, SWAC, MEAC, CAA, Big Sky, MVFC, and more). If your team plays FBS or FCS football, we cover them. NBA, March Madness, and other sports coming in 2027.
Why do you cover smaller schools that ESPN barely mentions?
Because alumni deserve coverage, and Colgate fans, Howard fans, and Harvard fans have as much passion for their teams as SEC fans do — they just have almost nowhere to get it. ValidFan treats the Bayou Classic like the cultural event it is, treats Harvard-Yale like The Game, treats Lehigh-Lafayette like The Rivalry. That's the whole point of the product.
What are ValidPicks?

How does ValidFan sound different for different schools?
Patriot League reads like a Saturday newspaper — literary, restrained. Ivy League reads a little cerebral. SWAC and MEAC reads with the pride and rhythm of HBCU football culture. Each conference has its own voice because each alumni base is different, and the tone that fits an Ivy fan doesn't fit a Grambling fan. That specificity is the product.
How many messages will I receive?
About 5 during your team's game week — the weekly digest, updates while the game is on, and a card when it goes final. Quieter the rest of the time, usually just the digest. You can adjust frequency anytime by replying to any message, and anything you text for on demand doesn't count against it.
What about RCS?
ValidFan works on standard SMS today. RCS support (rich cards, quick reply buttons, branded sender) is coming as carriers finalize compliance approval. When it's live, users on RCS-capable devices will automatically get the upgraded experience — same content, richer format.
Is my data private?
ValidFan does not sell your data and does not share personal information with advertisers. Aggregate and anonymized trend data may be used to improve the product. Your phone number is used only for message delivery. ValidFan is a product of XC Ventures LLC.
